Meatball Stew Recipe

Simple dish of meatballs made with breadcrumbs, egg, and Worcestershire sauce cooked with carrots and potatoes in a tomato sauce.

Meatball Stew Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 2 (8 ounce) cans of tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, quartered
- 1 cup of water
- 1 package of frozen green beans or peas (optional)

Meatball Stew Instructions
Combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, Worcestershire, and 1/2 cup tomato sauce. Mix and shape into balls. Brown meat balls in Wesson oil and drain excess fat. Place vegetables, water, salt, and remaining tomato sauce in covered pot and simmer 1 hour. Stir occasionally. note: If peas are used in this recipe it's best to add them near the end, and only cook them until they are tender.

VARIATION: Substitute dry red wine and beef broth for some or all of the tomato sauce and water.
